Shrubs - Gallery 1
Acanthopanax sieboldii 'Variegata'
This exceptional upright shrub has white spring flowers and glossy, bright yellow and green variegated leaves on arching branches. Although a little less thorny than its solid dark leafed cousing, it is still ideal for use as a privacy screens or as an accent plant. Very tolerant of tough conditions, it could grow to 7 feet tall in sun or deep shade.
Sambucus racemosa 'Sutherland Gold'
A compact grower that grows to 6 feet tall, with creamy coloured flowers, in sun to light shade conditions, in almost any type of soil. The distinctive cutleaf foliage is a brilliant bright yellow all season. Prune vigorously to encourage new bright yellow shoots.
Hibiscus syriacus 'Notwoodtwo'
This plant has distinctive white flowers that are not a single row of petals, nor a carnation like double, but rather something in between. Flowers appear in early August and last into September. This plant grows in a protected location to 7 feet in full sun to light shade.
Hibiscus syriacus 'Hamabo'
This plant has a beautiful summer flower show with very unusual pink and white blossoms. The colouring on the underside of the blooms gives the blossom a striped appearance. It grows to 8 feet tall in sun or light shade in a sheltered spot.
Hibiscus syriacus 'Minerva'
This new plant has large exotic single hollyhock - like flowers that are lavender with a distinct pink eye. They cover this multi-stemmed shrub June through September. It could grow to 8 feet tall in sun or light shade.

Heptacodium miconoides
This rare highly ornamental specimen plant is unique because of its unusual flowering time - it bears abundant small creamy white blooms from mid-August until late September. And just when you think the flower show is gone, the seeds and capsules remaining then appear that ripen to a glorious rose-purple. Additionally, this plant has gnarly formed, yet creamy white, bark that almost glows in a shady corner. It tolerates most soils, and could grow easily to 15-20 ft. tall and 10 ft. wide in sun or partial shade. Very hardy and fast growing with clean medium green leaves, there are few pests that bother it. Easily pruned in early spring, it would work as an excellent plant near a patio or deck.

Diervilla rivularis 'Morton'
A dwarf selection of bush honeysuckle that has an impressive display of yellow trumpet-like flowers in July. This plant is very tolerant of both drought and shady conditions, and has deep reddish foliage in the fall. An excellent plant for use as a dry ground cover shrub that grows to 40 inches high.
Cornus mas 'Variegata'
One of the earliest to bloom in late March, this large shrub or small tree bears and abundance of tiny yellow flowers close to the stems that become nicely edible (although pitty) red fruit in summer. Striking grey to reddish brown bark is scaly, curling and has pieces that peel like a birch. What's truly unique is the bright white variegated foliage, which is quite rare for Cornelian Cherry. It grows slowly upright to 15-20 ft. tall in sun or part shade. An excellent screening plant that will also attract birds. ** Special order

Forsythia x intermedia 'Mindor'
Show Off is not your typical Forsythia! It is compact and full of blooms from the ground to the ends of every stem. Older varieties can become out of control and often require excessive pruning to maintain them. This little beauty will stay small (less than 5') so there is no need to prune. Now you can have that beautiful early spring flowering hedge - tight and compact the way you want it without all the work!

Itea virginica 'Little Henry'
This is a wonderful native plant with lots of potential for the home landscape. It prefers moist soils, but will tolerate wet conditions. It will grow in full sun to full shade, and requires little pruning or other maintenance. Little Henry has lightly scented, pure white flowers that shoot like fireworks in the early summer horizon. Maturing at less than 3 feet tall it makes a delightful addition to the mixed border. Then when you're not expecting anything more from this little wonder its green summer foliage changes to a brilliant multitude of oranges and reds in the fall.

Cotoneaster x 'Hessei'
A horizontally mounding shrub with lustrous green leaves that turn to rich burgundy in the fall. Pinkish red flowers in spring and large red berries in the fall. It grows to 2 feet tall by 5 feet wide in sun or part shade. Many cotoneasters of this type can suffer winter injury. This is by far the hardiest - it is hardy to Canadian Zone 4 (it will grow in Sudbury). An excellent groundcover plant.

Weigela florida 'Verweig'
This dwarf masterpiece is the first, dwarf variegated Weigela to ever be introduced. Its tight habit and colorful foliage makes it very versatile. Variegation changes depending on light exposure - whiter variegation in shade and pink variegation in full sun. Possible applications include an artistic drift along the edge of an annual or perennial bed to an accent piece in an impressionist container.

Syringa hyacinthflora 'Excel'
Hyacinthflora lilacs are among the earliest lilacs to flower, and this pretty blossomed shrub is covered with single pink/mauve sweet scented flowers. If combined with Preston or French Hybrid Lilacs, it can help make a very tough hedge with over a month's worth of fragrant lilac blossoms. Excel will grow to 8 feet tall in full sun.
Syringa vulgaris 'Wedgewood Blue'
This most popular lilac produces magnificent trusses of lilac-pink buds that open to single blue, highly fragrant blooms. Thick dark green heart-shaped leaves are thick on its upright form, and if left unpruned it will quickly grow up to 8 feet tall. Best in full sun and in well drained soils, this variety is extremely hardy and has excellent mildew resistance.
Hydrangea paniculata 'Phantom'
This brand new PeeGee type hydrangea has absolutely massive cone shaped blossoms (up to 1 foot across) that start creamy white in August and fade to pink later into the fall. Fast growing to 7 feet tall, the blossoms are held well above the foliage. By far the biggest hydrangea blossoms you will ever see.
Hydrangea quercifolia 'Snow Queen'
Oakleaf hydrangeas are notoriously difficult to grow in Waterloo Region. This versatile new oakleaf hydrangea is by far the hardiest available, and offers a shrub that bears white "cones" of bloom (4-12" long) from late spring to summer, on a backdrop of distinctive, oakleaf-shaped deep green leaves. It grows 5 ft. tall and round and prefers sun or part shade and a moist, well-drained soil. Flowers turn pinkish purple as they age, while the leaves turn burgundy in autumn.
