Pre-Ordering Request - ROSES
|

We continue to field more inquiries from all across Ontario about securing roses in advance of the season than in almost any other plant category.
While we have a very good assortment, rose lovers may wish to consider a rose pre-order.
This process was made necessary due to their high demand, the shortage of supply as well as the other restrictions adopted during the pandemic. It continues on largely due to popular request from the happy customers who have been served by it.
Read below on what to expect with pre-ordering a rose at Grobe's....
We place orders in the summer in the year prior to their sale from a select group of Ontario growers. These roses come to us either to be potted, or already potted/finished. As you can imagine, much can happen to the supply of these roses from the time of harvest in the fall until they are available to sell by us.
To reduce the vagaries in this, we do not offer for pre-order roses until they are for certain in our care and, to the best of our ability, suitable for sale.
This process outlined here grew out of necessity during the pandemic, and has proven to be the best way for all to be satisfied.
Our website is updated in mid to late February with all of the rose varieties we expect to have on offer for the spring.
This list can also be downloaded below.
It is unlikely in 2025 that roses OTHER than what is listed there will be available for special order.
Rose aficionados are a determined bunch, and we have found that the process of pre-ordering is helped greatly by compiling a 'one time' list of folks' email addresses with their rose wish lists as it gives us an early indication of interest.
This wish list is NOT an order.
We will then notify you only once when we have roses in hand to offer, and that the process to make a pre-order purchase has begun.
This notification email comes to you AFTER the roses have arrived, but BEFORE the crop is released for walk-in purchase.
In most years this is at the end of March/early April, but it is weather dependent.
For those who do not wish to participate with this, please know that it will be possible to visit, select out and purchase the roses that are remaining AFTER the pre-order period has ended. Those roses available will be posted on our daily updated availability list prominently on our website so that you know what is here.
Rest assured, we do not retain any email addresses submitted here for other purposes.
AFTER YOU ARE NOTIFIED... there will be a process for you to submit a final list of the rose(s) that you are interested in purchasing.
A quote (.pdf) will be sent directly to you with the total amount that would be owing for your review.
If the quote is found agreeable, your purchase can be made in a similar fashion to other nursery stock, albeit perhaps a bit earlier.
Details of this will be included with your quote.
Please ensure and make the necessary arrangements to schedule the collection of your plants PRIOR TO PURCHASE.
Payment is taken ONLY AFTER the formal quote to you has been received and reviewed.
Once payment for your order of roses has been processed - they become yours.
Pick up of these roses must be done, as it is with all other nursery stock, BEFORE TWO SUNDAYS have passed from the date of purchase.
As some purchasers come at great distances, in the past there have been specially designated 'rose pick up days/times' that were set to ease this pick up process.
Should this need to be repeated, details of this will be set in late March/early April.
